TriParticipant
The above works on Chrome on Linux for the most part. Haven’t managed to test on PC.
TriParticipantHi again,
The script creator hasn’t released a new version on the website yet, but I have a new link – https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/27232874/Geocaching/GME.user.js
This one doesn’t break Gmail, but I’ve not managed much other testing.
TriParticipantThis probably seems a bit of a cop out, but I think there’s room for both.
A lot of people (my partner included) would be unlikely to venture out for a 2 hour walk for 1 cache (for example). It seems inefficient if you’re a numbers person, which to an extent I think a majority of cachers are.
I would certainly be drawn to a remote cache if it’s particularly interesting (i.e. a 5/5 or similar), but if after a long hard hike it was just a tupperware tub under a rock on the floor, I’d probably find myself a bit disappointed.
A good compromise would be a remote series, or even one that starts at a road and leads you out into the wilderness. I don’t see how that would be any less rewarding…in fact by most definitions it would be more rewarding.
TriParticipantHi All,
I’ve posted this on the post on the Devon Geocachers Facebook page, but I’ve uploaded a semi-working version of the script to my dropbox:
https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/27232874/Geocaching/109145.user.jsThe settings menu (for the plugin) doesn’t work properly, but the OS maps do.
TriParticipantNever mind, just saw the author has acknowledged the problem, it’s to do with the changes GS made this week (I thought something was going on as I couldn’t click anything on the map for a couple of hours, night before last).
TriParticipantOS isn’t working for me in Chrome either, even with the latest GME script….Which makes me sad as I’ve only just discovered it.
TriParticipantThere are some circumstances where I don’t log a DNF when I’ve searched and can’t find it. Basically I’m very aware that CO’s use DNF logs to decide whether to swing by and check on it. Also, some people won’t try a cache if the last log is a DNF, so I don’t want to put them off.
I only skip a DNF log when it’s clearly my own fault that I cant find it.. i.e. Trying to cache in the dark with no torch, or if my gpsr battery runs out and I’m trying to do it by the “I’m sure it’s around here somewhere” tactic.
I have logged a couple of nanos where I’ve not signed the log because I can’t get it open, but both times have ensured I have a photo of the cache in hand for proof AND tell the CO in the log.
TriParticipantThat would explain it. Unless they have rocket boots!
TriParticipantThink the 4 caches in as many minutes might be down to a problem with grounds peak. When I was logging mine earlier, upon submitting a log, I got a 404 error, but when you look it actually submitted no probs, so they probably just resubmitted as it didnt look like it went through.
